Working as a wilderness guide and retreat facilitator in the mountains of California and Europe for many years, I observed time and again the transformative power of nature—both internal and external—as a powerful process that happens when people slow down, immerse themselves in the natural world, and bring mindful attention to their inner lives. I often witnessed a transformation take place in my clients, and a fresh perspective on life and personal problems that was awe inspiring. My wonder at this transformative process led me to a more formal study of depth psychology and my work as a clinician (which has included an inpatient addiction center as well as an inpatient mental health recovery center).
Before that, working in the public and non-profit sectors and studying the classics (I hold Master’s Degrees in Liberal Arts, Public Administration, and Counseling Psychology), helped solidify my appreciation for human achievements throughout history, and our unique responsibility to both the earth and larger community. Most profoundly, raising children has thought me more about life and been more impactful on my understanding of people, than all the other experiences combined.
It is an honor and humble privilege to work with others on their own journeys of discovery, surrender, and growth.
